EV Charging at Apartments and Rentals
Charging options for renters and apartment residents: landlord approval, shared chargers, workplace charging and nearby public options.
Start with permission and practicality
Apartment charging depends on parking ownership, electrical capacity, building rules and billing. Ask for written permission before installing anything.
Shared chargers with RFID or app billing are often better than individual sockets in larger buildings.
Use workplace and destination charging
If home installation is blocked, regular workplace charging can be enough for many drivers. Public AC chargers near gyms, supermarkets or train stations can also fit normal routines.
The goal is not always charging at home; it is charging where the car already sits.
Build a weekly charging routine
Renters can still own EVs successfully by combining nearby AC charging, occasional DC charging and efficient trip planning. Track your normal weekly mileage before deciding if an EV fits.
